Original “Kennkarte” (identity card) cover issued in Nazi Germany, bearing the official state title “Deutsches Reich” and the national eagle emblem. The Kennkarte was the standard civilian identification document introduced in Nazi Germany, required for identification and administrative purposes. This example shows the outer cover, featuring Gothic (Fraktur) lettering and the national eagle with wreath emblem.These documents were widely used throughout the Reich and often contained personal data, photographs, stamps, and official markings on the interior pages.
